When a young family purchased its traditional style home in Coral Gables, Florida, they entrusted Studio AK to modernize the interior without sacrificing its architectural charm. Originally designed and built in the early 2000s, the 7,900-square-foot five-bedroom, six-and-a-half-bath home was due for a fresh facelift to reflect the style of the owners. With only a two-month timeframe while the family was away on their summer vacation to transform the interior of the home, Studio AK worked within the tight timeline, prioritizing simplifying the home’s overstated traditional details, incorporating custom-designed built-ins to maximize hidden storage and functionality, and adding a bit of character with modern appeal.
